D3 (Werkstoff 1.2080) is a very old alloy, it predates D2. It is though wear resistant but not particularly tough. It does though have a ‘toothy’ edge and slices nicely.

Suggested Heat Treatments:
Heat to 980C Hold for 10 minutes
Oil Quench (Suggested Oil is Rye 32)
Temper twice for two hours at 200C for 62HRc
Supplied in 500mm Lengths – Surface Ground Annealed
