26C3 is a high carbon, very clean, fine grained steel, capable of high hardness and holding very fine edges which makes this steel suited to kitchen knives, razors etc where extreme wear resistance is not always needed. 26C3 is also capable of producing some very fine hamons to! It can be water quenched but we do advise using Rye 50 to minimise the risk of cracks or failure as it can be as hard as 68HRc as quenched.
