Z-FiNit is a PESR (Pressurized Electro Slag Re-Melt) steel from Zapps GMBH. One of the most corrosion resistant knife steels available – great for kitchen, salt water or bushcraft knives. This was apparently a replacement for 52100 steel used by NASA in the space program! It’s got excellent toughness (Much like A8Mod, 52100), easy to mirror finish and a great working hardness of 60-61HRc, all while holding a great edge. If you’re after something that offers extreme corrosion resistance, great toughness, resists chipping, while maintaining an excellent edge, this is the steel!

Suggested Heat Treatments:
Heat to 1030C (Hold for 20 minutes)
Air or Oil Quench (Suggested Oil is Rye 32)
Optional Sub-Zero (Cryo or Dry Ice) Treatment
Temper twice for two hours at 180C for 60/61HRc
Supplied Surface Ground Annealed in 600mm Lengths.
